What’s hot in Tiles, Tapware & Flooring?

What’s hot in Tiles, Tapware & Flooring?  We caught up with Melinda Skoko and the team at Geelong Tiles and Bathware to find out.

Housing Geelong’s largest selection of tiles, tapware and timber flooring under one roof, Geelong Tiles & Bathware have something for every style and budget.

Whether you are about to embark on a luxurious new build or a quick bathroom renovation, the vast product range and expert advice will bring your ideas to life.

So what’s hot?

Tapware

When building or planning our dream homes, we experience a certain urge to select fixtures and fittings that create a sense of harmony and cohension as you pass through each space.  Housing over 100 brands, Geelong Tiles & Bathware offer tapware and accessories in matching finishes that are perfectly suited your space.

“Trends are moving away from the industrial feel to more earthy tones, think timber and natural stone,“ says Melinda.

“Raw Brass and Antique Brass complement these earthy tones well, as well as creating a unique look.”

Australian company Faucet Strommen has a collection of stunning pull-out sink mixes and freestanding bath fillers. Available in curved and square gooseneck designs, the products are quality built and engineered.

So, what’s hot in the Faucet Strommen range?

The weathered and organic finish of raw brass offers the perfect pairing for the earthy tones. This warm textured finish will age with time and develop into a medium brown. Naturally, brass alloys have visible variations of tone. Humidity, air, salt content, moisture and natural oils from the skin are factors that will initiate tarnishing. This is the beauty of this raw, living finish.

Antique Brass Tapware

Antique brass adds nostalgia and sophistication to your space. Coming in a light and medium shade, given it’s an organic finish, it will also tarnish in time. Antique brass goes will in stone bathrooms and compliments natural timber elements.

Brushed Nickel Tapware

Forget chrome, brushed nickel is here to stay. One of the benefits of brushed nickel is that is shows far less finger prints than chrome and its quite hard wearing.  Not showy or bold, brushed nickel tends to blend in and match well with whites, earthy tones and timber.

Tiles

The range of exclusive floor and wall tiles on display at the Geelong Tiles & Bathware Showroom is sensational!

There really is something for everyone.  But what’s currently hot?

“The revival of terrazzo has quite possibly seen the largest growth in recent popularity,” says Melinda.

“The beautiful chips of glass, granite and marble that cover the surface create a mirage of pattern.  Whether you choose a minimal and monochromatic scheme, or play with colours, the timeless versatility of terrazzo means it will always be welcome in your home.”

The Italian manufactured, Valentino by Cermiche Piemme tiles are a standout. The tiles have a raw, organic feel and ooze quality.

Porcelain tiles, also an option, may offer a more cost-effective price point.

Timber Flooring

Trish Flanjak from Geelong Tiles and Bathware showing Oak FlooringMove over concrete flooring, you’ve had your time.  Timber flooring is making a strong comeback.

And what’s hot in timber flooring?  Oak is hot.

Sometimes referred to as the Rolls Royce of the timber flooring world, engineered planks are the perfect solution if you want that gorgeous timber feel beneath your feet.

Formed by combining a layer of hardwood on top of plywood base, engineered flooring is strong and much more moisture resistant than solid timber.  The beauty of the combination is that it gives you the convenience to sand back and buff out the hardwood layer up to three times as required.

The most common types of timber used in engineered planks include European Oak and Australian species such as Blackbutt and Spotted Gum.  Available in a range of lengths and widths (up to 2.8m long), these boards are pre-finished, allowing for quick installation.
