Featuring impressive architecturally designed cabinetry.
Bolstering an existing weatherboard cottage, Adam Kane Architects have taken cues from the seaside to create a series of meditative spaces in this Barwon Heads retreat.
Andy Palmer and the team at SurfCoast Cabinets can take the credit for the expert manufacture and installation of the architecturally designed cabinetry throughout the home.
We spoke with Andy about this impressive project.
“The kitchen boasts a 6m long island bench, that also acts as a dining table” says Andy.
“Natural Silver Travertine Marble, sourced from Geelong Marble House, was the ideal choice to offset the black core panelling used for the cabinetry.”
“But what’s really impressive are the 2.4m high custom cylinder rangehoods in deep charcoal Venetian plaster, expertly rendered by Carlier and Co., along with the natural rake-textured finished splashback.”
The kitchen boasts integrated appliances with a pivot door that goes through to the walk in pantry.
The living room features a 6.5m high oak lined ceiling complimenting the refined luxury throughout the rest of the home.
Storage is plenty and the 7m long entertainment unit has a 1.8m x 1.8m panel that slides left and you guessed it, exposes a hidden 85″ TV.

The Barwon Heads House is a credit to Adam Kane Architects and the team who pulled it all together. Textural and moody, the select materiality comprising Barwon Heads House speaks to a sense of refuge and calm, further emphasised through the open meditative spaces and compressed intimate areas dotted throughout.
Transforming the existing residence and adding a rear extension, Adam Kane Architects creates a play on dark and light elements, evoking a sensory engagement with the spaces.
“From the street, the home just looks like it always has, a gorgeous seaside cottage. But the clever renovation has doubled the size of the home with a rear extension.”
