The recent build of a Highton residence displays the variety of work that can be undertaken by a cabinet maker. Contrary to popular belief, cabinetmakers do so much more than kitchens and bathrooms.
The brief was simple. The owners wanted the new home to blend in with the natural landscape, taking in the views. Independent Cabinetmaker (ICM Geelong) member, SCLK worked closely with David McDonald Builders to design and custom build the cabinetry throughout the home.
The owners chose an uncluttered design incorporating a stunning American Oak finish.
Classy kitchen cabinetry features 2-pac white painted flat panel doors and American Oak overhead cabinetry with a horizontal grain. A contemporary stone 12mm-slimline benchtop with extended overhang has a sleek stainless-steel frame.
An LED slimline lighting feature, also made by SCLK, has been painted to blend in with the rammed earth walls. The custom-built wine rack adds a touch of sophistication and is powder coated in matt black.
The living room opens onto a beautiful al fresco area perfect for entertaining. The outdoor kitchen is made from resilient polytec EvaBoard and has been painted in Dulux Monument.
Continuing the flow of timber throughout the home, the bathrooms and powder room also feature American Oak veneer, a popular choice for its character and pronounced grain patterns. Sourced through Cabinetmakers Choice, the oak lends itself to staining to further enhance the grain.
A functional and spacious laundry design offers a combination of flat panel doors and simple overhead open style shelving.
Being a family home, storage is the stand-out asset and large wardrobes feature in all the bedrooms.
